VSOs Help Veterans With Housing
Veteran service officers (VSOs) often extend their help to veterans needing to find appropriate housing or fix up their homes.
Massachusetts VSOs helped a veteran who lost his house and auto in a structural fire last March access emergency services from the Red Cross and temporary housing. The local American Legion Post donated $1,000 to fund a roll-off container for debris removal.
Another veteran and his spouse were able to get their home’s damaged heating system replaced at no cost. And another veteran spouse was able to get a wheelchair ramp installed at her home free of charge, helping her stay in the home.
Contact a VVA Veteran Service Officer to assist with your claim in states that have a benefits program here, or search for a VSO from another organization through the VA’s website in states where we do not. Enter your ZIP code or city and state, and you’ll see which VSOs serve your area.
