VSOs Help Manage Life Events
A Veteran Service Officer’s assistance isn’t always related to disability compensation, medical claims or mental health coverage. In Massachusetts already this year, VSOs have helped several veterans handle other life events.
One local veteran lost his house and car in a fire in March. VSOs were able to help him access emergency services from the Red Cross, plus temporary housing and $1,000 from the Millville American Legion Post to rent a roll-off container for debris removal.
They helped another veteran and his spouse get a damaged heating system replaced at no cost. And VSOs arranged for the installation of a wheelchair ramp at the home of a veteran’s surviving spouse at no cost.
Contact a VVA Veteran Service Officer to assist with a claim in states that have a benefits program here, or search for a VSO from another organization through the VA’s website in states where we do not. Enter your ZIP code or city and state, and you’ll see which VSOs serve your area.
