How to Get Help With a VA Claim

If you need assistance accessing the benefits to which you or a family member is due as a veteran or eligible dependent, get the assistance of a Veterans Service Officer (VSO). VSOs help veterans and their families in multiple ways.

VSOs can: (1) advise, educate and answer questions about what benefits are available from federal, state, county, and local resources; (2) assist veterans in completing and filing benefit claims; and (3) represent individuals in VA hearings.

Contact a VVA Veteran Service Officer to assist with your disability claim in states that have a benefits program here, or search for a VSO from another organization through the VA’s website in states where we do not. Enter your ZIP code or city and state, and you’ll see which VSOs serve your area.
