Depression, Headaches Lead to Benefits

A veteran recently visited VVA’s Massachusetts veteran service officers (VSOs) for help after a benefits claim related to an undiagnosed eating disorder had been denied. A VSO suggested she apply for benefits related to depression and for the migraine headaches she experienced while still in service.

The veteran has since been rated 50% Total Disability due to Individual Unemployability (TDIU) for depression and 50% for migraines, resulting in an overall TDIU rating of 80%. If she can’t find suitable work, the office will help her apply for 100% TDIU early next year.

Contact a VVA Veteran Service Officer to assist with your claim in states that have a benefits program here, or search for a VSO from another organization through the VA’s website in states where we do not. Enter your ZIP code or city and state, and you’ll see which VSOs serve your area.
